IGNITE’s Intellectual Property

All logos, branding, designs, images, code, and platform materials are owned and licensed to IGNITE. Except for personal, noncommercial use, you may not copy, distribute, or modify content without permission.

User Content Ownership

You retain ownership of your user-generated content. By submitting content, you represent that you have all necessary rights, permissions, and approvals required to share it through our digital channels.

License to IGNITE

As noted above, IGNITE’s license to your content is limited to operating the Services, ensuring safety, and enabling features such as messaging, posts, and notifications. We do not sell or commercialize your content.

Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

No Warranty

The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. IGNITE does not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operations, the accuracy of user-generated content, or absolute digital security.

Because our web properties, database storage, and user authentication systems operate in direct collaboration with, and rely upon, Humber Polytechnic’s IT networks, server hosting, and shared enterprise software licensing, IGNITE is not responsible or legally liable for any platform downtime, service interruptions, synchronization delays, data corruption, or data losses originating from institutional infrastructure management or account suspensions executed by the institution.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IGNITE is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, harm resulting from interactions with other users, or reliance on content posted by users or third parties.

IGNITE’s total liability for any claim will not exceed $100 CAD.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless IGNITE, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or operational expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected to your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or any infringing, illegal, or objectionable user-generated content you upload, post, or transmit across the MyIGNITE platform or mobile application.

Mobile Application Store Terms

If you access the MyIGNITE application via an iOS device (Apple App Store) or an Android device (Google Play Store), you acknowledge that these Terms are concluded solely between you and IGNITE, and not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC.

IGNITE, and not the respective application store provider, is solely responsible for the application software, its core content, maintenance, and support services. You acknowledge that Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the MyIGNITE application, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, will have no warranty obligations or liability regarding platform functionality.

Account Termination and Deletion

Termination by IGNITE

We may terminate or suspend accounts for violating these Terms or policies, safety concerns, fraudulent use, or legal compliance needs.

Termination by You

You may stop using the Services at any time. To request the deletion of your platform account, please contact us at [email protected].

Important Note on Account Deletion

Please be aware that to maintain institutional records and platform integrity, user accounts are archived rather than permanently deleted. Archiving your account has the following effects:

  • Visibility: Your profile and group associations are hidden from all active directories.
  • Data Retention: All historical records, past events, resources, and attendance data remain safely stored for future institutional retrieval.
  • Reactivation: Your archived profile can be quickly reactivated if you return to the platform or your organization becomes active again.

6.3 Updates to Terms

IGNITE may update these Terms to reflect service or legal changes. We will provide reasonable notice of significant updates.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, and the applicable laws of Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in Ontario courts.
