Equity Scholarships
IGNITE recognizes the unique challenges that members of historically excluded communities face in post-secondary, including social stigma and higher levels of financial insecurity.
That’s why these scholarships came to be.
Black Excellence Scholarship
The IGNITE Black Excellence Scholarship was created to recognize ten outstanding students and upcoming leaders within the Black community at Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph‑Humber.
Recipients of the $1,000 scholarship are selected based on their academic standing, their demonstration of leadership and community involvement, and their financial need.
Applications open Feb. 1, 2027. The application consists of three short answer questions with an option to upload references.

✔ I am a full-time or part-time student currently enrolled at Humber Polytechnic or the University of Guelph-Humber
✔ I am in good academic standing in my program
✔ I identify as Black
✔ I have demonstrated leadership experience and/or community involvement
Pride Scholarship
Each summer in honour of Pride Month, we offer the IGNITE Pride Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is granted to five students from Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph-Humber’s 2SLGBTQ+ community.
With this scholarship, IGNITE hopes to offer better support and alleviate some of the financial hardships disproportionately affecting 2SLGBTQ+ students.
Applications for the 2027 Pride Scholarship will open on Tuesday, June 1, 2027.
