How do I opt out of a plan?

If you are covered by an alternative provider that covers drug, dental, and extended healthcare, you can submit an opt-out form to Alumo. Depending on your alternative coverage, you may be eligible to opt out of the entire plan or just the prescription part of the plan.

Keep in mind that you must be in the first semester of your academic year to qualify for the opt out. This means that if your program starts in September, you must opt out by the fall semester deadline. If you miss the deadline, you cannot opt out of any following semesters for the academic year.

How do I opt in to a plan?

University of Guelph Humber part-time students and Humber Polytechnic students who are not billed while in a co-op, apprenticeship, and work placement will have the opportunity to opt-in to the plan. If you do not have coverage, we recommend checking your MyHumber or Web Advisor account to see whether you’ve been charged before initiating an opt-in.

If you have not been billed the IGNITE health and dental insurance, and you’re registered for at least one course or enrolled in a mandatory placement, you can opt-in before the deadline to receive coverage for the academic year.

How do I choose a different plan?

IGNITE offers three different plans to give you a choice in the health services you receive. You will be enrolled in the Balanced Plan by default, but you can switch to either the Enhanced Dental Plan, which boosts dental services or, the Enhanced Drug Plan,
which increases your prescription coverage.

All plans cost the same, so you won’t need to pay any additional fees, but these changes need to be made at the beginning of your academic year. Once you choose your plan, you will be enrolled in that plan for the whole policy year.
