The weirdest dreams students have had

The busier the day, the stranger the dreams.

You know that feeling when you wake up from a dream and just lay there thinking, what on earth was that?

Maybe you were in your classroom that was simultaneously your childhood dentist’s office, or being chased by an elephant-sized garden gnome, or perhaps your boss is busting a move at your grandma’s birthday party.

Dreams tend to take the most random parts of our days and turn them into completely unhinged stories while we sleep.

For students balancing jobs, classes, clubs, relationships, and countless other responsibilities, there’s a lot to process once it’s time for bed.

So just how strange can students’ dreams get?

1. Missing one small detail

Daniel, a first-year business student’s school day looked completely normal in his dream. He went to class, went about his day and eventually headed home.

There was just one small problem: he had been naked the entire time.

Somehow, he didn’t notice until he walked through his front door, although he did recall a lot of stares through the halls.

Daniel says he’s not the only one who has had this awkward dream; he can think of at least five people who have had the same one, and honestly… me too.

So if you feel like you just spent the entire school day without your clothes, chances are you’re just dreaming as well.

2. Something’s fishy

Not every strange dream is funny, though. Fourth-year kinesiology student Sarah Leona still remembers a childhood dream that started with a feeling that something wasn’t quite right.

At first, she believed her parents were exactly who they said they were. But as the dream went on, she began to question them.

“I thought that they were my parents, but over time I was like: ‘something’s weird, I don’t think they are who they say they are.’ ”

Her suspicions were apparently justified when…

“They turned into squids. They got really huge, it got all stormy outside, and my house started falling apart.”

As if giant squid parents weren’t enough, Sarah’s sister also became an apparent murderer, leaving her running for her life.

It’s safe to say waking up was probably the best part of that dream.

3. Party Crashers

Sam Larkin, a second-year marketing student, had her brain blend her eventful day into one wild dream when her classmates and co-workers crashed her mom’s dinner party.

“They all started dancing and being a part of the party, then started asking me if I could bring them more food and complaining that there wasn’t enough, even though they weren’t invited in the first place.”

After Sam wouldn’t comply with their request, they turned to her mom to give them more to eat, which took an unexpected turn.

“All of a sudden, my kitchen turned into a Subway, and my mom’s friends were buying my coworkers and classmates sandwiches.”

After a long day of classes and a chaotic shift, it’s not shocking that her brain had a lot to unpack once she finally fell asleep.

Importance of a good rest

Some students have found ways to balance their busy schedules with getting enough rest (and props to them!), but for many, that balance is easier said than done.

While pulling an all-nighter might feel like the only way to get everything done, making time to rest is just as important. Sometimes, that can be as simple as taking a few minutes to slow down and recharge.
