SUMMARY:HOUSE Workshop: Tenancy Disputes - Navigating the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB)
DESCRIPTION:Being skeptical of rental units is not uncommon. With acquisitive landlords\, unkempt buildings and laws buried in the fine print\, it’s natural to question everything and have little to no places to turn for answers. Until now!   \nIn collaboration with HOUSE\, a non-profit organization that advocates for affordable student housing\, this workshop will show students their next steps when faced with a landlord dispute.   \nThe Landlord and Tenant Board’s filing system can feel overwhelming. This might even be your first time hearing of it. This workshop aims to simplify the process and guide students on how to successfully document a landlord who has neglected their maintenance duties or committed other violations.  \n \nPlus\, enjoy a free lunch during the session! Join us for a step-by-step walkthrough of real-world scenarios that show how students can formally document issues\, file applications\, and dispute improper living conditions.  \nThe session will also feature an interactive poll to gauge where students require more attention in their tenant journey.   \nStop by to learn how to better navigate renting as a student.   \n━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━  \nAccessibility  \nThis event takes place in a wheelchair accessible venue.
